The United Graduate School of Agricultural Sciences, Ehime University (UGAS) Matriculation Ceremony, April 12, 2019

? The United Graduate School of Agricultural Sciences (UGAS) held a matriculation ceremony at the Faculty of Agriculture, Ehime University on April 12, 2019. Fourteen students enrolled in the UGAS doctoral course, of whom five were international students (Thailand (3), Bangladesh (1), and Turkey (1)).

? The President of Kagawa University, Yoshiyuki KAKEHI, addressed the students: “As you devote yourselves to your studies and acquire the latest knowledge and technical expertise, I want you to pursue innovative research that challenges long-accepted theories.”

? Daisuke Suzuki, representing the students, responded: “The agricultural sciences that we aspire to is an academic discipline that contributes to maintaining and enhancing a prosperous life for people, for which the preservation and improvement of the irreplaceable environment and ecosystems are expected. Therefore, we need to understand the extent of how our research activities affect local communities and global society, and the importance of fair research activities. We are well aware of the seriousness of this responsibility. In our pursuit of research, we will actively work in each area of the sciences with undiminished persistence, and we aim to be researchers that can contribute locally and in the wider world.”

 

After the ceremony, a commemorative photograph was taken of the new students and their professors. The day of the ceremony was blessed with great weather, and the new students were smiling broadly for the commemorative photograph.
