? Hermann Bohner (82), son of Mr. Alfred Bohner, who was a foreign teacher at the Matsuyama High School under the old system of education, visited Ehime University Junior High School with his family on Friday, April 14.
? The Matsuyama High School was a government high school, under the old educational system, founded in Matsuyama in 1919, and was later incorporated into Ehime University as a junior high school when it was established in 1949.
? Mr. Alfred Bohner taught German and music between 1922 and 1928 at the school. Also, in 1927 he went on the Shikoku 88-temple Pilgrimage (called Shikoku Henro) and published a book on the Pilgrimage after returning to Germany. It is still a valuable resource.
? Hermann Bohner, a son of Alfred Bohner, came to Japan to follow his father’s footsteps and was able to stand on the stage of Shokodo(an assembly hall), where his father would have stood. He expressed his gratitude to the university for showing him the building.
