The Institute for International Relations conducted a recruiting program to attract outstanding international students. We dispatched senior international students enrolled at Ehime University as recruiters to the universities from which they graduated online, and held information sessions to introduce Ehime University’s unique initiatives and attractions, and conducted other PR activities.
First, on Tuesday, February 4, Cuejo Sabi?on Rafael Ulises, a research student in the Faculty of Agriculture, held an information session for 16 students from the Technical University of Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic. In addition to introducing Ehime University’s campus, faculty, and clubs, he explained the admission process and scholarship programs, to which the participants listened attentively. At the end of the session, the participants actively asked many questions about culture shock in Japan and life in Matsuyama, making it a meaningful exchange.
Next, on Saturday, February 15, Pawitramar Nyoman Iswerya, a first-year doctoral student in the Graduate School of Science and Engineering, gave a presentation to the University of Brawijaya in Indonesia. Twenty-six students majoring in engineering and four faculty members attended. He mainly introduced Ehime University’s Graduate School of Science and Engineering, which provided an opportunity for the participating students to pursue their studies in Japan. After the introductions, two professors from Ehime University joined the exchange and the professors from both universities exchanged opinions. This exchange was the first step in building further relations between Ehime University and the University of Brawijaya.
Finally, on Wednesday, February 26, Pawiren Antonette Basabas, a research student in the Faculty of Education, gave a presentation to the University of Los Ba?os in the Philippines, attended by 16 students. She introduced Ehime University’s campus as well as Matsuyama’s rent with photos, which was very interesting. The special features of the classes were also explained in detail, attracting the students’ interest in Ehime University.
A promotional video (English version) produced in cooperation with Ehime University graduates and a video production company was shown at all information sessions to convey the appeal points of Ehime University from the perspective of international students. We are very hopeful that these activities will lead to an increase in the number of international students and the acquisition of excellent international students in the future.
