On Wednesday, February 12, 2024, a completion ceremony was held for the Japanese Language Preparatory Course for the second semester of the 2024 academic year. The purpose of this course is for government-sponsored international students to study Japanese language intensively.
The four graduates of this course (listed below), who were admitted in October 2024, received their certificates from Professor Shino Takahashi of the Institute for International Relations, and then presented the results of their studies. The graduates gave their presentations in Japanese, comparing their home countries’ population, money, and natural resources with those of Japan. They also made eye contact with the attendees and appeared calm as they gave their presentations, which were received with thunderous applause from the attendees.
In addition to their academic advisors and Japanese language instructors from the Institute for International Relations, the completion ceremony was attended by host families and J-support (a volunteer organization that supports international students in their Japanese language studies), who took care of the students during their home stay last December.
A student who completed the program said, “I was able to present my presentation with confidence because I practiced a lot. However, my Japanese is still difficult. I will definitely continue to study Japanese while doing my research.” It was a meaningful time for the graduates and participants alike.
Graduates will begin their studies in their field of specialization next semester.
