On Saturday, October 26, 2024, an “exchange meeting between graduates and current students” was held as part of the “Global Human Resource Development Program Nurtured by Ehime University and Businesses” implemented by Ehime University’s Institute for International Relations. This was part of the “Career Vision Formation for International and Japanese Students Learning Together” class. Four graduates who are active as foreign employees at companies in and outside of the prefecture were invited as lecturers, and nine current students and six faculty members participated.
First, the graduates introduced themselves, the companies they work for, and gave presentations on their current jobs and what they find rewarding, followed by a session in groups where they freely exchanged opinions.
Comments from participating current students included, “The conversation with seniors was very meaningful and motivated me to continue my studies,” and “I was inspired and energized by the seniors’ friendly competition for the society and themselves without ever running away, even while facing various difficulties. This exchange meeting was a valuable opportunity for international students who are seeking employment in Japan to hear the real voices of their seniors working at Japanese companies.
The program will continue to nurture global human resources who can play an active role in the local community and support international students seeking employment in Japan.
