Ehime University Biological Science Encouragement Award
In 2048, Professor Satoshi Suzuki of the Center for Coastal and Estuarine Science at Ehime University donated funds to the Ehime University Young Researchers Support Fund to “encourage young researchers who are conducting original research in biological science-related fields”. The Ehime University Bioscience Encouragement Prize was established. In addition to a certificate and plaque, recipients will receive a research grant of 100,000 yen.

Selection Results for Fiscal Year 2021
As a result of rigorous screening by the Selection Committee, the winners of the 2021 awards have been selected as follows.
1. award winners
Center for Coastal Environmental Science, Ehime University
Assistant Professor Yasutsugu Suzuki
Reasons for selection
In the last five years, he has produced 11 original papers in English (9 with IF 5 or more), including 1 first author, 1 co-first author, and 1 co-principal author, which is an outstanding research achievement. In particular, the number of papers in the last two years is 6, and the group is very active. Regarding the research concept, the goal is to clarify the significance of endogenous viral sequences at the molecular, individual, and population levels by elucidating the mechanism by which the antiviral action of endogenous viral sequences in the mosquito genome suppresses the infection of viruses that adversely affect mosquito egg laying, which is original and high-level research. The company’s main business is the development of new products and services. Since they are actively engaged in international collaborative research, we can fully expect their international activities as well as the future development of their research.
