Ehime University, established in 1949 as the only national university in Ehime Prefecture, will celebrate its 70th anniversary on November 11, 2012. The feature article will look at the history of Ehime Ehime University, which has contributed to the development of human resources and technology as a regional center of education and research, and has demonstrated new strengths and characteristics through educational reform, strengthening of research capabilities and social cooperation since its incorporation in 2004. The feature article also looks at Ehime University ‘s present and future prospects as it moves forward with the changing times, including population decline, globalization, and the development of the information society.
