The Entrance Ceremony of the United Graduate School of Agricultural Sciences, Ehime University(UGAS-EU)was held on Monday, October 20, 2025. In attendance were the deans from the graduate schools of Ehime University, Kagawa University, and Kochi University, as well as the academic supervisors and others. Thirteen new students, including eleven international students(four from Indonesia, three from Bangladesh, and one each from Tanzania, Nepal, Pakistan, and Mongolia), have embarked on a new academic journey.
At the ceremony, the Dean of UGAS-EU, Professor SUGAHARA Takuya, welcomed the new students, saying: “Your decision to enter a doctoral program reflects both your passion and your commitment to agricultural science. The doctoral stage is not merely a continuation of study, but an intellectual endeavor to explore the unknown and to generate new knowledge. Today, each of you is embarking on a path to become a researcher who contributes to the advancement of agricultural and life sciences at the global frontier.”
Mashuri(Ehime University)replied on behalf of the new students: “Studying in Japan is truly a dream come true. We are here not only to learn science, but also to learn values — discipline, respect, perseverance, and humility — values that make Japan an example to the world. For us, this is more than a study abroad experience; it is a life-changing journey.”
After the ceremony, all attendees gathered for a commemorative photo under a crisp autumn sky. Following the official photo session, the new students mingled, smiling and taking group pictures in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. It was a heartwarming moment that reflected both their excitement for the journey ahead and the beginning of new friendships.
