? At the 16th international symposium of the Study of the Earth’s Deep Interior (SEDI), held in Edmonton, Canada, Dr. Ryuichi Nomura, Assistant Professor of Geodynamics Research Center (GRC), received the Doornbos Memorial Prize.
? The Doornbos Memorial Prize is presented to a few young scientists every two years by the Committee on the SEDI, in association with their biennial meetings, for outstanding research on the Earth’s deep interior. It is given in honor of the Dutch seismologist, Durk Doornbos.
? The prize recognizes his pioneering studies on the melting and deformation properties of materials under high pressure in the Earth’s deep interior by using diamond anvil cell apparatus.
