Dr. Yoshiki Matsuoka, Associate Professor of the Research Center for Space and Cosmic Evolution, won the “Young Scientist Award” of 2019 in the field of science and technology, commended by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) for his research achievement on the evolution of supermassive black holes from the cosmic dawn to the present.
? This annual award is presented to young scientists under 40 years of age for their outstanding research achievements which indicate the highly skilled abilities needed to conduct exploratory and innovative research. The award is presented for the purpose of encouraging young scientists and thus contributing to raising the standards of science and technology in Japan.
? Dr. Matsuoka received a certificate from Masahiko Shibayama, Minister of MEXT, at the award ceremony held on April 17.
