On September 12, Ms. Loch Leaksmy, Head of the Department of Japanese, Institute of Foreign Languages at the Royal University of Phnom Penh, visited Ehime University and exchanged views on the possibility of future exchange.
The Royal University of Phnom Penh is one of the largest and oldest universities in Cambodia. Ms. Leaksmy introduced her university, saying that it currently has 36 partner universities in Japan and that roughly 60 students come to Japan to study each year. She added that a number of students get a job with Japanese-affiliated companies in Cambodia and overseas after graduation.
Prof. Sumida, Vice Director of the Institute of International Relations, informed Ms. Leaksmy that Ehime University has run a program adopted by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports and Technology (MEXT) “Career Support Program for International Students,” suggesting that the program could be beneficial for foreign students who want to gain employment in Japan.
