? Mr. Kazuki Yamauchi, who completed a master’s course of the Graduate School of Science and Engineering, Ehime University in March 2018, won Best Student Award at the 3rd IEEE/ACIS International Conference on Big Data, Cloud Computing, Data Science & Engineering, which was held in Yonago City, Tottori, in July 2018. This award was presented for his outstanding paper entitled “Fault-Prone Source File Analysis Focusing on the Contribution Entropy in Open Source Development.”
? In the paper, Mr. Yamauchi and his fellow researchers focused on the developers of source code in open source development and proposed to evaluate their contributions by using the notion of entropy. He also reported his analysis results showing that the proposed method could help to detect fault-prone source files. In the process of software development, source files are created and maintained by human’s intellectual work. During that process, it is important to know what form of collaboration of multiple developers would be better in conducting quality management effectively.
? The award recognizes his research’s potential contribution to the improvement of the quality control of source code.
