The United Graduate School of Agricultural Sciences (UGAS) held a matriculation ceremony at the Faculty of Agriculture, Ehime University. Twenty-seven students enrolled in the UGAS doctoral course, of whom 10 were international students (Bangladesh 3, Nepal 1, Indonesia 4, China 2).
In the ceremony, the President of Ehime University, Yuichi OHASHI, delivered an address: “Your research life may be a continual process of trial and error, but you must not be defeated by that. Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time. This quote from Edison suggests the key to success is a long series of experiments, which is “continual”. Your efforts will eventually pay off, so please try your best to achieve your goals. Good luck to you all.”
Then, Shogo Harakawa, representing the students, gave a speech to the President of Ehime University: “Our world faces various problems such as environmental issues, population growth, food shortages, and resource issues. Our agricultural mission aims to contribute to human existence and well-being through ensuring safe food, the conservation of the environment and its resources, and also effective utilization and development of bioresources. In recent years, research has diversified through advances in artificial intelligence (AI) technology, and information and communication technology (ICT). We will work on our research to address flexible changes in society and actively contribute. Finally, we promise to work hard in our studies and research, and we will follow university rules.”
After the ceremony, a commemorative photograph was taken of the new students and their professors.
The day of the ceremony was blessed with great weather, and the new students were smiling broadly for the commemorative photograph.
