? Since Ehime University signed an academic agreement with Gorontalo State University in the Republic of Indonesia in March 2007 and a three-party agreement on joint research and human resources development with the Regency of Gorontalo Utara and Gorontalo State University in May 2015, we have deepened our relationships through personnel exchanges and donations of books for the enhancement of the educational environment. Having received a request from the governor of Gorontalo Province to further develop our collaboration, a three-party agreement was concluded on Nov. 17.
? The signing ceremony held at Ehime University was attended by a delegation from Gorontalo including Mr. Marten Taha, Mayor of Gorontalo City, as a representative of the governor of Gorontalo Province and Dr. Syamsu Qamar Badu, Rector of Gorontalo State University, and executives from Ehime University.
? At the beginning of the speech, President Yuichi Ohashi expressed his sympathy for the flood damage Gorontalo suffered just before the visit. He also said, “We will make continuous efforts to collaboratively provide solutions to serious environmental, societal and educational problems in Gorontalo, and promote local industry-government-academia exchanges by training students from both universities to act as global human resources.” In the following session of gift exchanges, traditional colorful wedding costumes were given to Ehime University from Gorontalo Province.
? During their four-day stay in Ehime, the delegation actively interacted with people here to establish a foundation of the future cooperation by paying visits to the Ehime Prefectural Office and other private companies, and attending dinner parties with faculty, staff and international students of Ehime University.
? Ehime University will continue to strengthen regional collaboration and promote educational and academic exchanges for the development of global human resources.
